Guided Imagery, Hypnosis and EFT for Surgery and Recovery

Mentally preparing for surgery and medical procedures gives you a powerful advantage through your recovery.  Guided experiences, such as imagery, hypnosis and EFT can assist in destressing and strengthening as you prepare for your experience.

Guided imagery is visualization that is directed toward an outcomne. Not limited to vision, guided imagery is a whole body experience. These natural approaches energize and activate the mind body connection. Imagery, the basis for all mind body work, is the voice of the body.

"I was scheduled for surgery in exactly one week. Sanna graciously spent 4 hours with me. We cleared my fears and set the mind frame I wanted. I went to the surgery all smiles. The staff was curiously suspicious, yet I was strong and ready. I had no complications, did not use my pain meds after day two and healed faster than I expected. Sanna helped me." Susan N., NYC

Your attitude plays a remarkable role in your quest for improved health. Norman Cousins, author of Anatomy of an Illness, said, "There is little doubt that fear is a great accelerant of disease." Your inner healing potential can be strengthened for healing.

The relatively new area of study called Psychoneuroimmunology reveals the complexities between mind, body, nervous system and immunity. In recent years researchers have understood that the mind's influence on the health of the body serves us.

For example, we now know that the cells of the body communicate back and forth via messenger molecules that can switch systems on and off. One pain management technique establishes a panel with imagetic switches to control sensations in the body. It is a simple yet very effective tool.

You can influence how you feel and your capacity to make changes
intentionally. We create change every minute of each day automatically and reactively. We don't stop to think about it. Consider these examples:

  • We alter blood flow by blushing, or turning pale.
  • Prolonged feelings of sadness are known to depresses the immune system.

If you place your attention on your medication, your upcoming surgery or procedure, notice the 'mind set' - the mental pictures, sensations, feelings, thoughts that are associated. Would you say that your thoughts and feelings would encourage healing? Are they proactive and positive? Or negative and fearful?

Hypnosis, Guided Imagery and EFT strengthen your 'mind set.'

My husband has been fighting high blood pressure. He is not on medication yet, but the Dr said that eventually he would have to take medication as his high blood pressure is hereditary. Recently, it has been really high and when I purchased your new CD, Mindful of Breath. I told him to try it as it might help to relax him. Well, it was a surprise when after listening to your CD, and doing the breathing techniques for 20 minutes his blood pressure dropped from 145/95 to 120/80 (before and after readings). So it works and we thank you.  -  Vita F., Pittsburgh, PA
