Have you ever felt like you deserved that gooey piece of cake? Or a second glass of wine?
You worked overtime, or aced an exam, and went for a sundae?

Believing that you deserve to eat more food as 'one just reward' can be a diseaster to the waist line. We rationalize eating the 'good stuff' by attaching an event to the indulgence.

We might believe that we have to have an excuse to eat one more, especially in front of others. If alone justifying it to yourself makes sense.

This rationalization is emotional eating at its finest.

We decide on unhealthy choices in the name of hard work, stress, fatigue, a break up, someone else's tragedy and even being disiciplined. "I ran three miles today, let's grab an in icecream."

Life is always providing some opportunity. The parameters are limitless.

We want to live a healthier life, but we write in a clause, a technicality, or compensation because 'life happened.' Add the challenges of living a disiciplined lifestyle and the reward of wellness, we could have rarionalizations to eat a dozen pies.

Is this about not eating dessert?  Eating dessert?

No, desserts are a delicious part of eating. It is the 'clause' we attach to it.

"I am a safe driver, so I can run a few stop signs."

"I have been a good mother for 8 years, so I am entitled to run off to the beach along for 6 months."

Warehouse shopping is designed with you in mind. You save big. You bring home big. Less frequent trips to the store. You stock up for a drop in temperature and you can fill the extra freezer in the garage. Sounds like a reasonable plan and an investment in savings.

“Write down what I eat? Don’t need to; besides I am not a writer. I don’t have the time.
I can just guess that I eat about 1750 calories each day.”

Two hundred dieticians were asked to identify the calorie content of 4 popular dishes in NYC restaurants. They were off by 250 to 700 calories per dish. These professionals miscalculated 100% of the time and even underestimated personal daily intake by 10%.
